Every product your wound clinic needs.
One partner who handles the paperwork.
Total Wound Experts is a Las Vegas wound care distributor supplying skin substitutes, fish skin grafts, pharmaceuticals, OTC, dressings, and NPWT to clinics nationwide. We run benefit verification, prior authorizations, claims, onboarding, and support, so your team can stay focused on patients.
Why clinics switch to us
Most clinics buy wound care products one of three ways: direct from each manufacturer, through a general medical supplier, or through a specialty distributor. Each leaves gaps, and the gaps land on your front desk.
We built Total Wound Experts to close those gaps. Here is how the options compare on the things that actually cost a clinic time and money.
| What you need | Manufacturer direct | General medical supplier | Total Wound Experts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skin substitutes and CTPs from multiple sources | One brand per rep | Rarely stocked | Yes, multiple amniotic, placental, synthetic, and fish skin options so product choice follows the wound and the payer, not the rep |
| Fish skin grafts | Separate vendor | No | Yes, sourced alongside your other CTPs |
| Pharmaceuticals and OTC | No | Sometimes | Yes, dispensed through licensed channels, one invoice |
| Benefit verification before application | For their product only | No | Yes, same-day, for every product we ship |
| Prior authorization and claims | Reimbursement hotline at best | No | Yes, we submit, track, and appeal |
| Documentation and coding guidance | Product specific | No | Yes, chart templates and LCD checklists across your whole formulary |
| Staff training | In-service on one product | No | Yes, product, documentation, and workflow training at onboarding and on request |
| Who to call when something goes wrong | Whichever rep sold it | Call center | Your account lead, one number, one owner |
What we carry
If it belongs in a wound care clinic, we can source it. We do not publish manufacturer names here because the right product changes with the wound, the payer, and the coverage landscape. Tell us what you treat and we will match the product.
Every item below ships with the same support: coverage check first, claim handled after.
Skin substitutes and CTPs
Cellular and tissue-based products for chronic wounds that have stalled under standard care. Multiple sources so you can select by wound depth, size, exudate, and payer coverage rather than by which rep visited last.
- Amniotic and chorionic membranes
- Placental-derived allografts
- Dermal and synthetic matrices
- Sizes from small punch grafts to large sheets
Fish skin grafts
Acellular fish skin matrices used on diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, trauma, burns, and surgical wounds. A useful option where human tissue is declined for cultural or religious reasons.
- Sheet and particulate forms
- Room-temperature storage
- Clinician in-service included
Pharmaceuticals
Prescription topicals used in wound management, dispensed through licensed pharmacy channels with the same coverage check and billing support.
- Topical antimicrobials and antibiotics
- Enzymatic debriding agents
- Antifungals and barrier prescriptions
- Compounded options where appropriate
Over-the-counter
Take-home supplies you can stock, dispense, or have shipped directly to the patient so care continues between visits.
- Wound cleansers and saline
- Barrier creams and skin protectants
- Moisturizers for peri-wound skin
- Gauze, tape, and secondary dressings
Advanced dressings
Primary and secondary dressings across the moisture-balance spectrum, with guidance on selection by wound phase.
- Foams, alginates, hydrofibers
- Hydrocolloids and hydrogels
- Collagen dressings
- Silver, iodine, and honey antimicrobials
- Contact layers and films
Negative pressure wound therapy
NPWT for clinic, facility, and home settings, with setup, staff training, and DME billing coordination.

Compression and offloading
The adjuncts that make graft and dressing therapy work, particularly for venous leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers.
- Two- and multi-layer compression systems
- Compression wraps and garments
- Total contact casting supplies
- Offloading footwear and boots
Instruments and procedure supplies
Everything around the graft application or debridement so a procedure never waits on a missing item.
- Debridement kits and curettes
- Biopsy punches
- Sutures, staplers, and skin adhesives
- Sterile drapes and procedure packs
Anything else
Wound measurement and imaging tools, grafting adjuncts, DME, and specialty requests. If a clinic has asked for it, we have probably sourced it. Tell us on the intake form.
What we take off your plate
Shipping a box is the easy part. Clinics stay with us because of what happens before and after it arrives. Every service below is included with your account. There are no platform, membership, or per-claim fees.
Benefit verification and eligibility
Before any product is applied, we verify the patient's coverage, confirm the product is payable in your setting, and flag any payer-specific limits such as application caps or wound-type restrictions.
- Same-day turnaround for requests received before 2pm PT
- Written summary of coverage, copay, and any limits
- Re-verification when a plan changes mid-course
Prior authorization
Where a payer requires authorization, we assemble the clinical packet from your notes, submit it, follow up, and let you know the moment a decision arrives.
- Packet built to the payer's medical policy
- Peer-to-peer scheduling support if requested
- Tracking so nothing expires unnoticed
Claims and billing
We prepare and submit claims for the products we supply, or work alongside your existing biller with the product, unit, and modifier detail they need.
- Correct product codes, units, and wastage documentation
- Denial review and appeal drafting
- Monthly reconciliation of shipped versus billed
Onboarding and credentialing
One packet covers your practice details, NPI and tax information, shipping preferences, and payer mix. Most clinics place their first order within a week.
- Ordering account set up for you
- Payer mix reviewed for coverage risk up front
- Shipping addresses and receiving hours confirmed
Staff training
In-person or remote in-service for providers, nurses, and front-desk staff on product handling, application, documentation, and the intake-to-claim workflow.
- Documentation templates for each product category
- Wound measurement and photography standards
- Refresher sessions when staff turn over
Compliance and documentation support
Wound care is heavily audited. We help you keep charts that stand up: medical necessity, failed conservative care, wound measurements, and product lot tracking.
- Coverage-policy checklists for your region
- Lot and serial number logs for every graft shipped
- Audit response support when records are requested
Inventory and reorder management
Par levels set to your volume, automatic reorder prompts, and cold-chain handling where a product needs it. No expired inventory on your shelf, no procedure delayed for a back order.
Clinical product selection
When a wound isn't responding, our clinical support team can walk through the options in our formulary and the evidence behind them, with your provider making the final call.

Coverage and documentation
Skin substitute coverage is changing. Medicare has moved toward standardized payment for skin substitutes in the office setting, and regional coverage policies continue to specify which wounds qualify, how many applications are covered, and what must be in the chart.
We track these changes for you. Before your first order we review your payer mix against current policy, and we update your documentation checklist when policies change. Below is the baseline we help every clinic meet.
Before the first application
- Wound type and etiology documented, with the diagnosis codes that support it.
- Failed standard care for the period the payer requires, with dates and what was tried.
- Wound measurements at baseline: length, width, depth, and area, with photographs where your policy allows.
- Underlying conditions addressed: vascular status, glycemic control, offloading, infection ruled out or treated.
- Benefit verification on file with the product, setting, and any application limits noted.
At every application
- Current measurements showing response, or a documented rationale for continuing.
- Product, size, lot number, and units applied, with wastage recorded and justified.
- Procedure note covering preparation, application, and secondary dressing.
- Application count tracked against the payer's limit.
- Plan for the next visit and the criteria for stopping.
Frequently asked questions
The questions practice managers and providers ask us most. If yours isn't here, put it in the intake form and we'll answer it on the call.
Do we have to switch everything to you?
No. Many clinics start with one category, often skin substitutes or fish skin, and add pharmaceuticals, dressings, or NPWT once they have seen how the support works. There is no minimum and no exclusivity requirement.
Which brands do you carry?
We source from multiple manufacturers across every category and match the product to the wound and the payer. We don't publish the list because it changes with coverage and availability. Ask on the intake form or on your onboarding call and we'll walk you through the current options for your setting.
Who does the billing, you or us?
Your choice. We can prepare and submit claims for the products we supply, or we can provide your existing biller with the product codes, units, modifiers, and supporting documentation. Either way, we handle benefit verification and prior authorization up front and help with denials after.
How fast is benefit verification?
Requests received before 2pm Pacific are returned the same business day. Later requests are returned the next morning. Urgent cases can be called in to your account lead.
What does onboarding cost?
Nothing. Onboarding, training, benefit verification, and billing support are included with the products. There are no platform, membership, or per-claim fees.
Can you ship directly to patients?
Yes, for OTC supplies, take-home dressings, and disposable NPWT where the ordering provider authorizes it. Prescription products follow the applicable pharmacy dispensing rules.
Do you work with hospitals and health systems?
Yes. We support facility-setting billing pathways, contract pricing, and ordering across departments. Hospital onboarding runs on your procurement timeline rather than our standard one-week schedule.
What happens if a claim is denied?
We review the denial reason, pull the supporting documentation, draft the appeal, and track it to resolution. If the denial points to a documentation gap, we update your checklist so it doesn't repeat.
Are you a manufacturer?
No. We are an independent distributor and service company. That independence is what lets us recommend across brands and change products when coverage changes.
